What Is a Tuxedo?

A tuxedo, also commonly referred to in the UK as a dinner suit, is a more formal style of tailoring traditionally worn for black-tie occasions.

The most recognisable difference between a tuxedo and an ordinary suit is the use of satin detailing, particularly on the lapels. Tuxedo trousers traditionally have a satin stripe running down the outside seam.

A classic tuxedo is normally worn with a white formal shirt, black bow tie and elegant black dress shoes.

Modern tuxedos have evolved considerably, with different lapel shapes, fabrics, colours, textures and jacket styles available.
