So we’re sitting at dinner one night and my Wife Abi says she has an idea and that she wants to raise money for the ‘Help For Heroes’ cause. I ask what she’s thinking we’ll do and she says ‘Oh, you know, just throw a small party, make it a wedding dress based themed night and hopefully raise a bit for the charity’. Little did I know that this acorn of an idea would grow into the best bridal charity party Essex has probably ever seen! So yeah; On Sunday us Boys all got our Tuxedos on whilst the girls spent hours (and hours) getting their dresses on and having their make up done, lol! Together we all had the most fantastic Help For Heroes charity party at Prested Hall in Feering and I have to say that I’m really proud to have helped to organise such a brilliant night.
100 Guests, brides and friends of The Groom’s Room dressed up to the nines literally and we had a superb evening. Pre-event, Tom and I proudly had the job of ensuring that all of the Suppliers and event sponsors at the event were suited and booted in very smart tuxedos supplied by Peter Posh. I was so pleased, everyone looked fantastic! I welcomed Guests up the red carpet with Sarah Jane and we enjoyed some fantastic performances by the awesome Next of Kin (who looked mega smart in our Tuxedos). Thanks so much Lads for attending our event, entertaining our guests and partying with us, you Guys were fantastic!
Altogether we raised £3000!! It was an awesome effort. Dave and Paul from Dreamwave were totally brilliant MC’ing and Scott and Emma from Aurora Pearl certainly knew how to keep the guests entertained with their video flickbooks and party booth pictures! It seems that everyone had a fabulous evening. You can read Abi’s full blog about the event right here or just pick up any of this weeks papers, it’s everywhere and it’s got the whole county talking! Simon and Hayley From Picture Box Portraits did an amazing job with their photos and we’re delighted that we have such a superb record of the event, thank you!
Yesterday Abi and I presented our cheque to the team at Chavasse VC House in Colchester. That’s one of the UK’s four Help For Heroes Recovery Centres. Steve the Centre Manager spent time talking us through the landscaping plans, they’re really impressive and we can’t wait to see them develop. Good luck with the project I know that Abi and I would love to see ‘Hope on the Horizon’ part of the garden project, it all sounds really amazing, we’re so pleased that our funds are going towards these special facilities.
Here’s a few pictures from the evening, as you can see we all had a ball! Literally!
