Sometimes they do, but there isn’t really a single “normal” arrangement anymore.

We do see groomsmen paying for their own suit hire, particularly where the cost is reasonable and everybody has been told in advance. We also see couples who choose to pay for the entire wedding party.

There are also arrangements somewhere between the two. The couple might pay for the suit while groomsmen buy their own shoes, contribute towards each person’s hire or pay for their suits while the couple provides ties and pocket squares.

There really isn’t a right or wrong arrangement.
