Does Body Shape Matter More Than Gender When Choosing a Suit?
In many ways, yes. Two women can have completely different fitting requirements, just as two men can.
One woman may have a naturally straight frame and fit beautifully into standard menswear sizing. Another may have a fuller bust, defined waist and wider hips, making standard menswear proportions less suitable. Similarly, some clients want a deliberately masculine or androgynous silhouette, while others want the suit to follow and enhance a more traditionally feminine shape.
There is no one “women’s suit” silhouette that everyone should wear. The starting point should be: How do you want the suit to look and feel on you? That question matters far more than fitting you into a predefined idea of what women’s tailoring should look like.
