Introduction

Planning your wedding suit is about much more than simply choosing a style. Timing plays a huge role in ensuring everything fits perfectly and is ready in plenty of time for your big day. Whether you’re hiring, buying or choosing a made-to-measure or bespoke suit, starting early gives you the widest choice and a much more relaxed experience.

After helping thousands of grooms over the last 20 years, here’s the wedding suit timeline we recommend, along with some expert tips to make the whole process as straightforward and enjoyable as possible.

Quick Answer

Ideally, start looking for your wedding suit around 9–12 months before your wedding, with your first appointment taking place approximately 6–9 months before the big day. This gives you plenty of time to explore different styles, organise your groomsmen and arrange fittings without feeling rushed.

If you’re choosing a made-to-measure or bespoke suit, allow additional time for your suit to be designed, made, fitted and adjusted. Shorter timescales can sometimes be accommodated, but starting early gives you greater choice, more flexibility and a much more relaxed experience.

Detailed Guide
