There is no single rule about who should pay.

Many couples decide to pay for the entire wedding party, some ask their groomsmen to pay for their own suits or suit hire, and others split the cost.

If you’re choosing an expensive outfit specifically for your groomsmen and it’s unlikely they’ll wear it again, contributing towards the cost is a thoughtful option.

If you’re hiring reasonably priced suits, asking adult groomsmen to cover their own hire can also be perfectly acceptable, provided the cost is discussed with them from the outset.

The most important thing is that everybody knows what they’re expected to pay before commitments are made.
